Thoughts on my pet peeves

What are your pet peeves, blog readers? I'm here to be a sounding board so you can vent.

-The Spice Girls, Black Eyed Peas/Fergie, and Paula Cole (Dawson's Creek theme song).
-People that say "melk" or "worsh"
-Getting stuck at red lights, while nobody is going the other direction.
-Worship songs that mention "dancing", yet inspire no dancing. This, um, happened 2 times in one service on Sunday in Washington. To think about the congregation in the pews dancing to the music. . . . unintentional comedy. (Oh I feel like dancing". . . .and Jeremy doesn't)
-Christmas songs that mention such time-honored traditions such as "Scary ghost stories and tales of the glories of Christmas's long long ago"
-Big bites of food with dog hair in them
-Random blog posts. . . .(oh crap)

Glad to know my song meant to make you laugh inspired such a list of pet peeves.

Talk about passive agressive.

Glad to know that my pronaunciation of MELK has made it on your list! Love you too friend!! hahaha. Passive agressive is a bit true Jer! Long live the Richard! You forgot to mention stupid people who don't wear helmets while riding their bikes

Sarah (sister): Passive aggressive? WTF? I'm not passive aggressive, but since you said so, I guess I'll just wallow in my self misery (was that passive aggressive?).

Sarah (friend): I didn't know you pronounced milk incorrectly ;) Definitely - a pet peeve: road rash all over a skull. . . and all over my jacket.

Dev: please enlighten me.

Becca: your time in Warshington was full of warshing machines for the melk stains on your Warshington shirt.

Rachel: I will not ask your mom where Seattle is.

I love my blog readers.

And frankly, "I don't wanna wait for our lives to be over - I want to know right now: what will it be?"

ok here goes:
-people who chew with their mouths open or make any audible sound when eating.
-gum-chewing, especially when there is smacking or popping involved.
-people who can't seem to pronounce the "l" in wolf or wolves and so just lazily say woof or wooves.
-9th graders
-pastors or public speakers who have dry mouth but do not take a drink of water so that every time they part their lips to speak spit sounds resound from the speakers. I guess I really hate mouth-sounds.
-tattoos of any cartoon character, especially taz the tasmanian devil. Also tribal armbands.
-I could write a book on the people that annoy me on the subway, but it mostly includes the above mentioned pet peeves, plus anyone that sits so close our legs our touching and leaves me in the position of moving away and being rude or miserably hating every second of my train ride.
-anyone's toes coming anywhere near me, that does include my husband and my best friend.

I think I'll just stop there. Feels great to get that out though. Thanks Jer.

And don't get me wrong, I do plenty of things that annoy myself :)

ah yes... and when people pronounce diabetes "diabetis"

rachel rianne said...

-"irregardless"

-"expecially"

-whenever our family goes to eat thai food, my mom gets pad thai. although we're eating THAI food, whenever she talks about her meal, she says, "pad TAAA" good lord. my sister and i will never get used to it.

-hearing complaints about long days when i get home from being on campus for 11 hours.

-when ppl laugh at and the repeat everything they think is funny. over and over again.

okay that's all i can think of now. but i thought that i'd contribute.

Ok I'd like to leave the record 12th comment...

I'm sure the following things I do could be considered someone's pet peeve....

- saying 'yeah' or nodding my head while your talking that might give you the impression that I'm listening.

- using the remote for the sole purpose of not having to watch a commercial

- drinking while my mouth is extremely full to 'help it go down'

- singing a song loudly after you have stated that the singing of the song is "annoying"

ok one more......a personal pet peeve...
- when someone starts a sentence with "You think that's bad...." They are basically saying "What you just said isn't as good as what I'm about to say"

Jeremy Parsons said...

Johnny, if you think those are bad, just wait until you read below!. . . .

I know 14 comments isn't your pet peeve, Jer :) To add a few to the long list:
-Those little cards that fall out of magazines
-"High-walkers," those people who never put their heels down when walking
-Messy drawers
-Kuwaiti drivers
-Kuwaiti 7th graders
-Dust in my nose
-Breathing in exhaust

Did Zak or Dev or Tim or I ever tell you we planned to write a book of pet peeves? Never got around to it...
